Website widget AccessiBe fined $1 Million by FTC.

Did your website designer install the AccessiBe accessWidget and tell you that it would make your website accessible for people with disabilities? If so, there are a million reasons why they misled you.

On April 22, 2025, The Federal Trade Commission fined AccessiBe $1 Million for making misleading claims that the "accessWidget can make any website compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)".  Read the complete FTC Final Order.

The only way to make a website accessible for people with disabilities is proper development, remediation, and testing. If your website uses any kind of a quick fix widget, overlay, or other so called "Accessibility Adjustments" pop-up window, you may be out of compliance depending on your state laws.
