3VCF Accepting Applications for the
David Yandell Living Legacy Service Scholarship
– Open to Amador Valley High School Class of 2026 Graduating Seniors –

February 19, 2026 (Pleasanton, CA) — Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF) is pleased to share that the application window is open for the David Yandell Living Legacy Service Scholarship, a $10,000 award presented annually to an outstanding graduating senior from Amador Valley High School (AVHS).

Offered in partnership with AVHS, this annual scholarship honors a student who exemplifies leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to service within both the school and the broader community.

The scholarship was established in tribute to David Yandell, a longtime AVHS teacher and counselor whose decades of mentorship left a lasting imprint on generations of students. Now retired and living in Livermore with his wife Rosie, Yandell’s influence continues to shape young leaders through this meaningful investment in their future. The Yandell family looks forward each year to personally recognizing the recipient at the AVHS Scholarship Awards event.

Funded through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) held at 3VCF, the scholarship was created by David and Rosie’s youngest son, Keith Yandell (AVHS Class of 1997), to celebrate his father’s enduring example of service and dedication to students.

“In our family, education has always been about more than academics; it’s about character, compassion, and showing up for others,” said Keith Yandell. “This scholarship is our way of honoring my dad’s lifelong belief that service to the community is one of the greatest measures of success.”

Dr. Kelly Bowers, President & CEO of Three Valleys Community Foundation, emphasized the broader impact of the scholarship’s legacy:

“At 3VCF, we believe philanthropy is most powerful when it reflects personal values and local roots. The Yandell family has transformed gratitude into opportunity by creating and funding a scholarship that not only honors a beloved educator, but also uplifts students who are already making a difference. It’s a beautiful example of our mantra of Give - Grant - Grow - in action.”

Now in its third year, the David Yandell Living Legacy Service Scholarship continues to inspire Tri-Valley families and alumni to consider how they, too, can create meaningful, lasting impact through donor-advised philanthropy.
