September is Suicide Prevention Month. Our goal is to raise awareness of the heartbreaking statistic that 22 veterans lose their lives to suicide each day, and to stop veteran suicide. 22 to Zero. Together, we can show our veterans and military families that they are not alone—and that support is available.
Participants will take on a series of fun and meaningful “challenge stations” inspired by the number 22. For example:
The Middle College is leading a 22 hula hoop challenge
The Fire Technology Program is hosting a 22-yard dummy drag
And many more exciting and impactful activities
It’s a day to engage, connect, and support a cause that touches us all.
THE 2025 2.2 FOR 22 CHALLENGE Participants will receive a 2.2 for 22 T-shirt and a commemorative finisher medal. Event organizers strongly encourage participants to complete as many challenges as they can or even attempt all of them. Participants are also welcome to join or create teams to enjoy the event together.
Participants are encouraged to share pictures of themselves taking on the challenges using the hashtag #CHALLENGE22FORVETERANS
The entire event will be held "in person," featuring a new obstacle course challenge that will test participants’ physical, social, and emotional capabilities. Food trucks and lunch tickets may be purchased at the event.
Registration is FREE through September 1, 2025; Fee required thereafter.
This event is brought to you by the Veterans First Program, Las Positas College Foundation, and the Valley Veterans Foundation.
